About

Hi there! My name is Krista.

I founded Calgary Mobile Massage and Stretch Therapy in 2015 because I enjoy working with and helping others.

Certifications

2200-hour Massage Therapy Diploma from Mount Royal University

Level 2 Fascial Stretch Therapist from the Stretch to Win Institute

Level 1 Lymphatic Drainage Therapist from the Chikly Health Institute.

I believe the body works together as a unit and thus I aim to treat from that viewpoint, exploring the deeper reasons for your symptoms.

We can work on improving chronic postural dysfunction, increasing flexibility and range of motion, treating various injuries, or simply relieving stress.

My particular area of interest lies in fascia: various layers of connective tissue that stabilize, attach and separate muscles and organs. I address fascia in my massage treatments and while doing FST and cupping.

I also work to improve the immune system by offering lymphatic drainage sessions, on their own or incorporated into a massage session.

In my downtime, I can be found practicing yoga, running, adding to my indoor garden, and hanging out with my cat.

Katie is an important part of our team and will be working with some of you.

Certifications

3000-Hour Massage Therapy Diploma from MaKami College

Manual Osteopathic Practioner from the National Manual Osteopathic College

Brazilian Body Sculpting and Facial Contouring Lymphatic Drainage from Josie Rushing

As a therapeutic massage therapist, Katie offers Swedish sessions, cupping, orthopedic massage, myofascial release, and lymphatic drainage.

She also offers foot reflexology.

Katie is a Manual Osteopathic Practitioner whose techniques include non-invasive and hands-on corrections of joints, visceral manipulation, craniosacral therapy, and advanced fascial release.

She believes that the body is most productive when treated as a whole unit, and in healing what is at the root of the problem, not just the physical representation.

When Katie isn’t treating, she can be found in the great outdoors camping with family, reading a good book, and kickboxing.

Mary will integrate various modalities including orthopedic massage, myofascial release, and cupping into her treatments to help clients achieve overall wellness.

When Mary isn’t seeing clients she can be found camping, spending time with her family, or enjoying a good book on a quiet evening.

Testimonials

Krista was amazing! My hubby bought a certificate for me as I have scoliosis and work all day standing on my feet. He sure did his research! He got the best (my opinion) massage therapist to help me with all my back, legs, and shoulder pains. She knows how to handle scoliosis and severe neck pain. I definitely would recommend her!

Marcia

Krista was super sweet and very professional. I have a complex chronic condition and she made me feel very safe and supported with her knowledge and massage treatment!

FAQ

Q: What areas of my body will be massaged?

A: This depends on what we are working on. You will be covered at all times with a sheet and only the area we are treating will be undraped.

Q: Do I have to remove my clothes?

A: We want you to be comfortable, so the decision is yours. For a traditional massage the person will undress and lie on the table under the sheet, and the area we are working on will be undraped. You will change in complete privacy.

Fascial Stretch Therapy is performed fully clothed. Please wear athletic clothing that allows a lot of movement, such as yoga pants and a tee-shirt.

For our other modalities, we will chat when you book and advise you on how to prepare.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: We accept email money transfers, Debit, VISA, Mastercard, and American Express. Cash is accepted but other payment types are preferred.

Q: Can I use my healthcare benefits for mobile massage?

A: Yes. We recommend you inquire with your insurance provider on exactly what they cover. Most insurance plans cover massage therapy, whether a percentage or certain dollar amount. You will be emailed an itemized receipt after your treatment that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

Q: What are the benefits of mobile massage, FST, or Lymphatic drainage?

A: Massage has numerous benefits including decreasing muscle tension and pain, increasing range of motion, decreasing cortisol levels, and increasing serotonin and dopamine levels.

Fascial stretch therapy will decrease pain, increase flexibility and range of motion, mobility, posture, balance, coordination, power, and strength. People of all ages benefit from this treatment.

Lymphatic drainage helps to stimulate your immune system and will provide relief from inflammation such as allergies, acne, or eczema (subacute or chronic stage). It helps in the reduction of edema (swelling), aids in detoxification, promotes deep relaxation, and causes tissue regeneration (scars, burns) and anti-aging effects.

You will also be able to relax in the comfort of your own home after your session.

Q: How often should I book a treatment?

A: If we are working on a specific concern or area, a treatment plan will be created and timing will vary from person to person.

For massage maintenance, we recommend every 4-6 weeks.

Q: What is Rapid neurofascial reset?

A: It is a neurologically based, active, therapeutic modality that addresses the central nervous system’s role in alleviating tension and restrictions within the body as a whole. RAPID is an evidence-based manual therapy technique that can be used to quickly and effectively eliminate pain and bring the body back into a better balance and equilibrium.

Q: What is Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST™)?

A: First off, what is fascia? Layers of connective tissue, mostly collagen, that stabilize, attach, and support muscles and organs.

FST™ is assisted proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitated (PNF) stretching. Manual decompression of joints and soft tissue includes manipulating, re-organizing, re-aligning, and lengthening the fascia of the body. Treatment is done clothed with the use of soft straps to stabilize as you are stretched.

Q. What is Lymphatic Drainage?

A. The Lymphatic system is essentially a waste removal system that closely follows the circulatory system. When it is working as it should, it helps to drain stagnant fluids, filter out toxins and foreign substances, regenerate tissues, and maintain a healthy immune system.

Lymphatic Drainage is a lightweight treatment (weight of a dime) aimed at sustaining and improving the flow of lymph. LDT therapists can feel the specific rhythm, depth, quality, and direction of the lymphatic flow.

Q. What is Manual Osteopathy?

A. This treatment focuses on palpation and various other manual methods for structural assessment and treatment. The idea is to identify the root cause of the symptoms and restore balance in the body as a whole, factoring in various systems including musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, digestive, reproductive, and respiratory.

Q: How much room do you require?

A: The standard massage table is 73 inches long and 28 inches wide. We require enough room to move around the table and bring you into stretches, if we are doing FST™, so a good rule of thumb is the size of the table plus 3-4 feet around the table for massage and 4-5 feet for FST™.

Policies

Deposits

We require a deposit of 50% within 24 hours of booking. The remaining 50% will be paid at the time of treatment.

Cancellations and Modifications

Due to COVID, our cancellation policy has temporarily changed. Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel due to sickness. Your time is set aside for you. It can be difficult to fill last-minute vacant spots and this affects the therapists as well as other clients.

If you are feeling unwell in any way, we can be reached by phone or email and will respond in order to confirm the reschedule or cancellation.

If you are not home when we arrive for your scheduled treatment you will forfeit the deposit.

Please note that no more than 2 consecutive modifications for the same appointment are allowed. After 2 consecutive changes are made, the deposit will be forfeited.

Sickness

*If you are feeling unwell in any way, please let us know and we will reschedule your appointment.*

In the event that we have not been notified and you or someone else in the house is sick when we arrive, we will need to rebook and you will forfeit the deposit.

If we are sick or presenting with any of the COVID-19 symptoms, we will give as much advance notice as possible and reschedule the appointment.

COVID-19 Related

Each client will need to supply their own linens. This is to provide peace of mind, as you know where the linens have been, and also to protect the therapists from bringing linens back into their homes to wash. Twin flat and fitted sheets are ideal (we can work with larger), plus a pillowcase for the face cradle. Please have a hand towel or face cloth available.

As of March 1, 2022, masks are no longer mandatory. Your therapist may wear a mask for part or all of the session. It is your choice to wear a mask or not. Certain locations may still require masks, such as assisted living facilities or if we are seeing you in the hospital.

Please note this is subject to change based on AHS and provincial regulations.
Your therapist will verbally confirm that you are healthy.

Same day bookings

These are not often available. If you do book a treatment for the same day, it is considered set and the full amount will be paid at the time of booking via e-transfer. If any changes to cancel or modify the treatment are made, the full amount will not be returned.

Lateness

If you are running late or are taking time to get ready, we allow a few minutes buffer and will do our best to adjust without compromising our next appointments. Otherwise, the time you are taking will count into your session time, and the treatment time on the table may be shortened with regular fees applied.

If we are running late, you will receive your full treatment time.

Inclement Weather

In the event that the road conditions are poor and driving is not advised, we will give you as much advance notice as possible and reschedule your treatment to the next available date.
